The 2nd Borneo, Island of History Project themed 'Selami Sejarah Borneo' or Dive into the History of Borneo is held for two days until the 28th of June. The project is part of ongoing efforts in further strengthening and expanding the role of the Brunei History Centre in preserving, researching and disseminating knowledge pertaining to the history of Borneo. The penBORNEO Exhibition Gallery and the Borneo Map Gallery were launched at the Borneo Research Centre in Berakas, 27th June morning.
In attendance was Doctor Dayang Siti Norkhalbi binti Haji Wahsalfelah, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Culture at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. Also present was Encik Abdul Munir Lutfi bin Said, Deputy High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam, and Agus Buana, Head of Chancery and Director of Social and Cultural Affairs, representing the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia. The project is hoped to introduce penBORNEO and expand its reach as a Borneo history reference and research centre, aside from providing a platform for knowledge sharing on history, heritage, culture and the development of Malay civilisation in the region.
